Description: An attractive elm selection that is vase shaped in youth, becoming more rounded with time; very resistant to Dutch elm disease; makes a superb street tree or shade tree for home landscapes; very vigorous and adaptable Ornamental Features Elm, Summer Elixir has dark green deciduous foliage which emerges rose in spring on a tree with a round habit of growth. The serrated pointy leaves turn yellow, red and purple in fall. Landscape Attributes Elm, Summer Elixir is a deciduous tree with a more or less rounded form. Its average texture blends into the landscape, but can be balanced by one or two finer or coarser trees or shrubs for an effective composition. This is a relatively low maintenance tree, and is best pruned in late winter once the threat of extreme cold has passed.
